On the Saturday of my trip to London, I was lucky enough to be in town for a vintage fair. (good timing) Its run by a company called The Vintage Fair and they travel around England, bringing vintage fairs to 15 different cities in total. Im so glad I found out about them because I intend to hit some more of their fairs in the future. (They host 1 at The Bloomsbury Lanes, bowling alley on the first weekend of every month)
I had a so much fun at the fair, there was a lot of sellers at it, so naturally, there was a ton of stuff to get through. My only regret is that we didn’t get there early enough and I suspect a lot of the good stuff had been absconded by the time we arrived. (2/3ish) There was a big que when we arrived so if your planning on going, aim to get there on the opening. (noon)
My favorite part was definitely the vintage salon. Make up and Hair make overs, vintage style, so great. Yes we got our hair did. Do I have any decent pics of the hair? No. Am I useless? Dont answer that. Over all, great fun was had by all and I highly recommend checking it out. The only thing I found frustrating was the lighting. Very dark, fairly difficult to see things. I bought one thing. A huge cream Aran Cardigan. Yes, I live in Ireland and I went ALL the way to a vintage fair in London to buy and aran cardi. That’s how much of a spa I am.
When we left we the fair we went for a rather unhealthy lunch, (of course) afternoon tea at St Pancras Grand. Delicious? I think so. Calorific? Definitely. Afterwards we went home to change into our vintage finery to go to the Fitzrovia Radio hour. The Fitzrovia radio hour is a theater group, who write and perform theatrical radio shows from the 1940s, complete with stories and advertisements. All of the sound effects are all done live and it really was an amazing show, so enjoyable and clever! Another highly recommended outing!!
This concludes my London Excursions this time around. I was there for the Chinese New Year celebrations and I had a great time, with my lovely hostess and her family. (The kids were the best part, so cute and so excited, both my shoulders and arms were killed carrying them but it was well worth it and no mom if your reading this Im not having any of my own)
I will def be going on more London trips, this one was so much fun. All you people living in London are so, so lucky. x
Apologies for the appalling collection of photos. The good ones are all on my friends camera and the new stupid face-book photo viewer wont let me save them. Grrrr.
